California Proposition 65
Also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, California Proposition 65 requires businesses to notify Californians via warning labels about significant amounts of chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm contained in the products they purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. Morris Magnets is committed to providing safe, compliant products for our customers. We provide specific notifications for any of our products requiring Prop 65 labeling.
It would be simply impossible to test every single piece of every single order for all 900+ chemicals included in the Prop 65 list. As such, we at Morris Magnets adhere to the following proactive procedures to mitigate our risk and that of our customers as it relates to Prop 65:
- We request and carefully review Safety Data Sheets from all of our domestic vendors.
- We have internationally-sourced raw materials tested at independent testing laboratories for lead, phthalates and other chemicals as applicable.
- We complete risk assessments and review all of our products to ensure they do not contain high risk materials requiring labeling.
- We regularly review the 60-day Notice Search Engine maintained by the California Attorney General’s office, specifically noting new decisions about high risk chemicals and products. As a result of these reviews, we institute or update testing protocols as appropriate.
